Childcare

Noah’s Nursery for infants thru 2 years old and “Eve’s Angels” for 2 ˝ years and above are staffed with well-trained and screened professional child caregivers. They are supplemented by loving volunteers.

• Childcare is available from 8:45 am to 12:45 pm on Sundays and 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday Evenings.

• The Nurseries are located on the bottom floor in the Pre-School wing off of Alfriend Hall. Enter the church buildings off of Calhoun Street and go through the double doors to Alfriend Hall immediately on the left. The nurseries are located through the double doors across Alfriend Hall and down the steps.

• On Wednesday evenings, Godly Play (classes for Kindergarten through 5th grade) meets on the 2nd floor Sunday School wing.

Children's Chapel

On Sundays we encourage children first grade and older to join their parents in the worship service. Children’s bulletins are available from the ushers, and the Eucharistic Manual for Children in the pews helps involve your child in the service. A "Children's Chapel" is offered during the 9:15 a.m. service. The program is designed for children from kindergarten through 3rd grade and will be led by clergy members in Carter Chapel. Children will be invited to exit to the chapel during the Sequence Hymm and will return during the Peace.

Sunday School

Sunday School classes meet between services, from 10:30 to 11:15 am.

Preschool - 3- and 4-year-olds gather each week in the Preschool Sunday School room on the second floor of the preschool wing with Mallory McCall and Heather Murphy.

Kindergarteners meet for Godly Play, led by Holly Dickinson and Beth DuMond, in their classroom on the second floor of the preschool wing.

St. John's First Graders meet with Lucy Carter and St. John's cheerful and always helpful flock of shepherds and shepherdesses in the First Grade classroom. Sixteen first-graders celebrated Festal Eucharist on April 13, 2008. They actively participated in the service by receiving communion together, reading the Second Lesson, singing special songs, writing a prayer for the Collect and offering oblations.

Students in 2nd-5th Grade gather each week for Sunday School between morning services. We are proud to offer a rotation curriculum that includes sacraments and coordinates with the seasons of a liturgical year. WorkshopCycles takes seriously the spiritual development of children while providing creative, hands-on activities to help children learn the stories of God and God's people. Children work on the same story or concept for several weeks, using different learning approaches each week. Come get involved in Art, Drama, Stories, Music and more!

The 2nd-5th grade Sunday School Leaders are Ramsay Sims, Robin Krause, Jacqueline Martin, and Brooks Rumenik.

We hope your children will join us for Sunday School this year! Registration Forms are available on our website. Look for notices in The Chimes to find the classroom assignment for the week, and please let us know if you'd like to volunteer to assist with these exciting programs! Contact Mary Byrd Sims for more information.
