Preschool children and Kindergarteners meet upstairs in the preschool wing for Godly Play, a Montessori-based approach to religious education which teaches children the art of using religious language - parable, sacred story, silence and liturgical action - helping them become more fully aware of the mystery of God’s presence in their lives.
Our dynamic First Grade program meets upstairs in the Parish House. We bring first graders together each Sunday morning with teachers and clergy to learn what it means to be part of God's Christian Family, how we worship God in church and in our everyday lives, and what baptism really means. We share with others less fortunate through Thanksgiving and Christmas "giving" projects, and explore the church by "crawling" through the organ pipes, ringing the tower bells, and having a treasure hunt in the church. All of our exciting activities culminate in our study of the Last Supper and in preparation for the Festal Eucharist at the end of the school year.
2nd through 5th grades utilize the Leader Resources’ WorkshopCycles in our well-established, dedicated classrooms by grade. This curriculum takes seriously the spiritual development of children while providing creative, hands-on activities to help children learn the stories of God and God's people. Children work on the same story or concept for several weeks, with new workshops each week in Art, Drama, Music, Story, Computer, Movie and Kitchen. Our Sunday School Committee has chosen five cycles for January through May, each lasting 3 weeks: "12 Who Changed the World," "The Body of Christ," "Miracles of Jesus," "The Mystery of Easter," and "Let There Be Light."
Childcare for infants and toddlers is available in the nursery downstairs off the Parish Hall from 6:15 to 8:45pm.
