The Compass Rose Commission organizes mission trips to
support St. John's companion church in Zorrilla, Cuba. Our
parishioners send medical, liturgical, and Sunday School
supplies with our missionaries. Our next trip is planned for
April 2012.
Founded by local churches, clubs and individuals,
Emergency Care and Health Organization (ECHO) provides
emergency food, clothing, financial assistance, and
professional counseling to anyone who is in need for reasons
of unemployment, homelessness and emergencies. Each year,
over 20,000 local individuals receive ECHO's emergency
assistance to help weather a hard time. It is to these
people that the 40,000 food pantry items collected yearly
from St. John's and other churches are distributed. Events
to support ECHO during the year include the Back to School
Drive, SouperBowl Sunday, Holiday Turkey drive, and
parishioners' weekly tuna donations.

ministry in Tallahassee that provides ministry and
assistance across cultural and racial lines. Numerous
volunteer opportunities exist, from tutoring children after
school to serving lunch on Sundays.
St. John's has been involved in this world-wide effort to
build homes for low-income families for over 14 years.
Through volunteer labor and donations of money and
materials, Habitat constructs and rehabilitates simple,
decent houses with the help of the homeowner-partner
families. St. John's has teamed up with other Episcopal
churches, a Rotary Club, Hunt Insurance and All-American
Ford. Habitat is not a give-away program; houses are sold to
partner families at no profit. Visit
www.habitat.org for more information on this world-wide
organization.
Hardison Home
This ministry provides transitional housing for homeless
families to permanent housing and self support. The Hardison
Home is one of nine homes in the Inn Between Transitional
Housing Program of Lutheran Social Services. Volunteers
assist with refreshing the home for an incoming family and
providing particular family needs.
Holiday Meals on Wheels
In memory of Gordon Little, who for many years
coordinated this effort, volunteers prepare and deliver
meals to the homebound on an appointed day near Christmas.
Kairos Prison Ministry
This ministry shares Christ's love and forgiveness with
men and women in prison, their families, and those who work
with them. Volunteer opportunities include participating in
Cursillo-type weekends with inmates and working on weekend
retreats designed to support inmates' families.
