CENTERING PRAYER (7:00 - 8:30 p.m., the Parlor)
Centering Prayer is at the same time a relationship with God and the discipline to foster that relationship. This method of prayer is a movement beyond conversation to silent communion with God. The Centering Prayer group meets Monday evening in the Parlor from 7:00 to 8:30 pm. We study scripture, discuss a chapter from a book written by a contemplative author, listen to God in Centering Prayer for 20 minutes, and close with the Lord's Prayer. Education for Ministry (5:45 –8:00 p.m., Cobb Library)
EfM is the acronym for Education for Ministry. EfM is an extension course offered through the Sewanee School of Theology in individual churches. This wonderful group process allows participants to explore the Bible in detail and to examine their own theology. It provides a small group in which you can open yourself to renewal and transformation as you learn. Each class is limited in the number of participants who may enroll with a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 12 in a group. There is a Mentor and co-Mentor for each class. Registration for the course takes place over the summer and classes run throughout a school calendar year fall through spring. St. John's offers classes on Thursday mornings and Monday Evenings.
For Monday Evening classes please contact Margie Watkins.
