It’s that time of year again … school is almost back in session! St. John’s Episcopal Church has supported our partner school, Riley Elementary, for years with mentoring, volunteerism, teacher recognition, and more. We plan to do the same this year by helping the student body start the year with all the items they need to learn and succeed!
You can help by purchasing school supplies and dropping them off at church by Sunday, August 8. There will be a collection box in the Calhoun Street lobby near the church office.
Riley administrators have identified a dozen of the most-needed items, so we will be concentrating our collection on that list:
- GLUE STICKS
- COLORED PENCILS
- PENCIL BOXES
- COPY PAPER
- HAND SANITIZER (BOTTLES & REFILLS)
- COMPOSITION BOOKS
- DUOTANG FOLDERS
All items collected will be provided to students at John G. Riley Elementary by coordinators from our “Lend a Hand” program, who will ensure the items are delivered before the start of the school year. If you wish to make a monetary donation to the program instead, please do so by check, noting “Riley” or “school supplies” in the memo line. Or, MAKE A DONATION ONLINE by selecting “pass thru” from the drop down menu and indicating this is a “Riley” donation.
