Wherever you are on your spiritual journey, St. John’s welcome you!  We hope you will visit us this Sunday or during the week.  After the Sunday service, look for our greeters at the exits of the church who can provide you with more information about St. John’s and answer any questions you may have.

Dave Killeen

Rector

The Rev. David C. Killeen’s ministry during the past eight years has focused on preaching and teaching, pastoral care, evangelism, new member incorporation and local and global outreach. Killeen has a passion for Spirit-led, grassroots strategic visioning and implementation. He recently led a campus master planning process and a $5 million capital campaign for historic preservation and new construction. Locally, Killeen is co-founder, with Rabbi Jack Romberg, of Faith, Food, Friday, a luncheon discussion series in partnership with the Village Square, Tallahassee. Faith, Food, Friday has brought together thousands of people of different faiths to discuss issues that involve faith and the public square. He is also the co-founder of Wounded Warrior Spiritual Retreats, a ministry of the Episcopal Diocese of Florida that provided weekend retreats for severely wounded veterans from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. In the wider church and Anglican Communion, he serves on the Board of Episcopal Relief and Development as chair of the Advancement Committee. He is a Trustee of the American Friends of the Anglican Centre in Rome and a past member of the Planning Committee of the Consortium of Endowed Episcopal Parishes. Prior to St. John’s, Killeen served for three years as associate rector of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Jacksonville, Florida, where his primary focus was family, youth and children’s ministries. Before St. Mark’s, Killeen was Curate and Interim Pastor at St. Mary’s, Tuxedo Park, New York. Before seminary, Killeen worked at the International Radio and Television Society, the Academy of American Poets, and St. Bartholomew’s Church, Manhattan, the parish in which he discerned his call to ordained ministry. He has published articles in the Tallahassee Democrat, The Living Church, the Episcopal New Yorker, New Jersey Monthly and other publications. He is an honors graduate of The General Seminary of the Episcopal Church and Muhlenberg College. He and his wife, Carol, are the parents of four sons: Daniel, Thomas, Michael and Paul.

Abi Moon

Senior Associate Rector for Outreach, Children & Adult Education

Mtr. Abi Moon graduated from the University of the South School of Theology in Sewanee, Tennessee in May 2011. She serves as our Associate Rector for Christian Education and Outreach. Prior to seminary, Mtr. Moon worked as director of youth ministry at Church of the Good Shepherd in Augusta, Georgia and Church of the Advent in Spartanburg, South Carolina. She has also served as a teacher and assistant chaplain at Palmer Trinity School in Miami. Following her undergraduate years at Sewanee, she served as a volunteer in the Peace Corps and lived in Guinea, West Africa. She has led or participated in pilgrimages to Greece, Italy and the Holy Land. She and her husband, Rob, are delighted to be in ministry in Tallahassee.

Joe Bakker

Deacon

Deacon Joe Bakker was ordained at St. John’s in January 2017. Prior to his ordination, he had served as a vestry member and was involved in Adult and Youth Sunday School education. Deacon Joe is involved with pastoral care and prison ministries. He also assists at Sunday services. He and his wife Cheryl have been active congregants at St. John’s for over thirty years. They have two grown children, Jovita and Geoffrey.

Wallace Marsh

Priest Associate

Fr. Wallace Marsh joined St. John's staff as a part-time Priest Associate in March 2019. He is active in leading worship, preaching and teaching once or twice a month. His full-time role is as an English and History teacher at Thomasville's Brookwood School. The Marsh family has been worshiping at St. John's since their relocation to Thomasville, GA so that Fr. Wallace's wife, Margaret Ann, could continue with Flowers Foods as VP for Environmental and Sustainability. Fr. Wallace spent the last seven years serving as Canon for Liturgy and Pastoral Care at The Cathedral of St. Philip in Atlanta, GA. He also served as Rector Associate at St. James, Marietta, GA, and at St. Paul's, Albany, GA. Fr. Wallace is a graduate of Sewanee:The University of the South (BA) and Yale Divinity School (M.Div.). We are pleased to have Fr. Marsh as a member of St. John's staff.
