Acolytes at St. John’s represent the youngest leaders of our worship. Open to young members from 5th to 12th grade, the tradition of acolytes leading worship date back to the earliest days of the Church. Here is your chance to become a part of this vital ministry at St. John’s. Some of the benefits of being an Acolyte at St. John’s include leadership and teamwork, skills that will be beneficial throughout life. As a bonus, serving as an Acolyte counts towards volunteer hours for Bright Futures or other school-related reasons.
Training for new and returning acolytes will take place on August 18, 2024, beginning around 11:30 a.m. in the Church. The training will be conducted by peers – experienced Acolytes who have served for years and have become leaders in the ministry. Training should take about an hour, and lunch will be provided afterwards. Come and learn about the different roles within the Acolyte Ministry—Gospel Torchbearers, Banner, and Crucifer 1 and 2—and train for one of those roles.
