Advent Lessons & Carols (with Dessert Reception)

This annual holiday service heightens the expectancy of the Advent season! Let’s celebrate together with the Advent Procession, the reading of scripture, and the singing of Advent carols, hymns, and anthems. The service begins at 7:00 PM.

The anthem that the Compline Choir will sing as part of Advent Lessons and Carols is a new piece written by John Martin. John and his family are members of St. John’s. John sings with the St. John’s choir on Sunday mornings, and with the Compline choir on Sunday evenings. The text of the anthem “Behold,” saith the Lord is based on Jeremiah 31:31-34. The performance at St. John’s will be the premiere of this lovely new choral anthem written for men’s voice without accompaniment.

All are invited to enjoy a dessert reception, with a champagne toast thrown by the Stewardship Committee, after the service in Alfriend Hall.
