Coffee Talk: Episcopal Relief & Development

October 10, 2021 @ 11:15 am - 12:00 pm

This week’s Coffee Talk will focus on Episcopal Relief and Development (ERD), a response of The Episcopal Church to human suffering in the U.S. and around the world. Join us as Mother Abi shares her background with ERD (see below) and how together with local communities, ERD promotes the rights of women and children, and helps communities prepare for and recover from climate-influenced events such as floods, hurricanes and other disasters.

Coffee Talk will now be presented in a hybrid format. You can join us in person in Killeen Hall, or via Zoom:

Coffee Talk meets weekly! Join us for some fellowship and education. Speakers and topics vary.

Mother Abi & ERD: Raised as an “Army brat,” Abi grew up moving every 2-3 years and in each space discovered a deeper appreciation for people, culture, and the divine in each new location. After serving as a Peace Corps volunteer, she discovered ERD in seminary and fell in love with their sustainable and developmental practices. She served as the seminary liaison to ERD from The School of Theology in Sewanee, TN and has continued to work with ERD in parish ministry. Living in Florida, she has seen the hard and compassionate work of ERD in action with her sister diocese after Hurricane Michael in disaster relief. She currently serves on the 10,000 days of Love campaign advisory committee and has participated in the Pilgrimage to Ghana.
