Service of Choral Evensong

One of the oldest in the Anglican tradition, Choral Evensong (sung Evening Prayer) combines the sung monastic offices of Vespers (at sunset) and Compline (before bedtime) and is drawn almost entirely from holy scripture.

Choral music in this service will include works by Malcolm Archer, Ralph Vaughan Williams, and L. J. White.

This service will feature the Joyful Noisemakers (ages 5-7) and Choristers (ages 8+) leading the prayers and responses, anthems, and hymns, together with the St. John’s Adult Choir.

Join us at 5 PM for a pre-service organ recital played by James Aagaard, organist of Centenary United Methodist Church in Quincy and a DM organ student at Florida State University. The recital will include selections by Bruhns, Bach, Mendelssohn, Price, and Rorem.
