Gethsemane Watch

On the night before his crucifixion Jesus asked his disciples to pray with him in the Garden of Gethsemane, asking, “Could you not stay awake with me one hour?” (Matt. 26:40). Every year at St. John’s, we follow that command with an all-night “Gethsemane Watch” on Maundy Thursday. You are encouraged to come, keep watch, and pray with our Lord present in the Sacrament on the altar in Carter Chapel. The Gethsemane Watch begins immediately after the 6:30 PM Maundy Thursday service and ends at noon on Good Friday.

If the time slot you prefer is already filled, please know you are most welcome to pray alongside those already signed up. Security will be on the premises through the night.
