Join us for an unforgettable weekend of music, education, and worship at St. John’s! We’re thrilled to welcome guest speaker and composer Richard Webster as we celebrate some very special milestones in our music ministry.
2025 marks a year of exciting anniversaries at St. John’s: the 20th anniversary of the installation of our stunning organ, the 110th anniversary of our iconic bell tower, and Betsy Calhoun’s 35th anniversary as our beloved Director of Music.
It’s a time to reflect, rejoice, and celebrate the rich musical tradition that unites us all. We invite local churches, Diocesan friends, and everyone who loves beautiful music to join us in this joyous celebration. Let’s come together to make this an unforgettable occasion!
Friday, February 14, 6:30 PM – Hymn Festival for the Church Year
An evening service of hymns, anthems, and readings to celebrate the breadth of sacred repertoire from Advent to Christ the King, with organ, brass, and timpani! Let’s journey through the Christian liturgical year with some of our favorite seasonal music and readings.
Saturday, February 15, 12 PM – Celebration of Music Ministry Luncheon in Alfriend Hall
In 2020, Richard Webster composed the St. John’s, Tallahassee Service. This piece of music was specifically created for St. John’s Episcopal Church and is a setting of the two canticles for Evening Prayer in the Anglican tradition (the Magnificat and the Nunc Dimittis). On Sunday evening (Feb. 16), we’ll get the chance to hear the first-ever live rendition of this music. However, if you are curious about how the St. John’s, Tallahassee Service was created and where Richard found his inspiration, we invite you to ask him all about it at the Celebration of Music Ministry Luncheon and Q & A. This event is not to be missed! Tickets are $15/person or $100/table (seats 9). REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED.
Sunday, February 16, 5:30 PM – Choral Evensong
All are invited to this special service of Choral Evensong, featuring the Tallahassee premiere of the St. John’s, Tallahassee Service, commissioned in thanksgiving for Betsy Calhoun’s 30th anniversary at St. John’s in 2020. Join us to hear this unique setting of the Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis composed specifically for St. John’s.
