About Us

The Front Porch welcomes people along all paths who seek to deepen their spiritual lives. We offer contemplative practices, events, and classes rooted in Christian spirituality. Most of these offerings are held at St. John’s Episcopal Church, whose mission it has been to house a spirituality center serving church members and the larger community. Just as you are invited to the join us on The Front Porch to enter deeper conversation about prayer and spirituality, you are also welcome at St. John’s to belong, grow, serve, and center.

Below are some recommended events on the church calendar. Whether you visit for weekly worship, stop by the bustling Lively Café, attend a class through The Front Porch, or enjoy a Tallahassee Bach Parley concert, you are welcome at St. John’s!

October 3 (Cascades Park)

Pets are a blessing! If you agree, bring your furry, scaly and feathered friends to St. John’s annual Blessing of the Animals in Cascades Park. A brief, casual service will be held at 3:00 p.m. in Discovery Field. Help us honor creatures great and small by keeping your pet leashed or crated. No pets? No worries! We bless stuffed animals too! Invite your friends; all are welcome.

October 5, 12, 19, & 26 (Eve’s Garden)

On Tuesdays in October, members of the St. John’s Tower Bell Guild will be performing mini bell concerts. Come enjoy the beautiful sounds of our 14 hand-rung bells while eating lunch from the Lively Café. Outdoor seating is available in Eve’s Garden, or one of St. John’s many other outdoor garden spaces. Bells will be played from noon-12:30 p.m.

November 20 (Alfriend Hall)

Do your Christmas shopping and support local charities at the same time! The annual St. John’s Market is an old-fashioned church bazaar, raising funds for activities of the parish and for local non-profit organizations. Wares include antiques and collectibles, artisan craft items, baked goods and preserves, cakes and pies, outdoor plants, Chicken Pilau, floral arrangements, and books. Come shop with us!
