SALT Luncheon: FSU’s Sod Cemetery

September 19 @ 10:30 am - 12:30 pm

St. John’s September SALT Luncheon promises to be amazing. If you are an FSU fan, or even if you’re simply interested in a piece of Tallahassee tradition, you won’t want to miss it!

In 1985,  FSU Dean Coyle Moore asked St. John’s parishioner, Doug Mannheimer, to be the second “Keeper” of FSU’s Sod Cemetery, a tradition that Dean Moore founded in 1962. The Sod Cemetery has been named one of the 100 greatest college football traditions.  Doug will tell stories about the very grave responsibility of keeping a tradition which the New York Times has called “The Happiest Cemetery in America.”

Doug and Cricket Mannheimer have been members of St. John’s since 1981. Doug, a Tallahassee native,  is in his 46th year of law practice.

The presentation will be followed by a Q & A., and lunch. While SALT stands for “Senior Adults Living Triumphantly,” ALL ages are welcome to join us.

Or contact Deborah Dugger in the church office for assistance. Please RSVP by September 16. A $9/person donation is appreciated to cover luncheon costs. Coffee will be served in Alfriend Hall beginning at 10:30 AM. Our program begins at 11 AM in Killeen Hall, and lunch follows the presentation.
