FSU Cantores Musicae Antique Concert - November 22

Cantores Musicae Antiquae - "FSU's heavenly Renaissance choir" - was formed in the fall of 1989. The group consists of 5 to12 singers, often one on a part, and is comprised of undergraduates, masters, and doctoral students. It specializes in the music of the Middle Ages, Renaissance, and early Baroque. Their program at St. John's on November 22 will begin with thirteenth-century French dance songs (called "caroles"), pass through Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris and the Moosburg parish church with some Clerical dance songs in Latin, reach England with macaronic caroles in Latin and Middle English (including caroles based on the life of Thomas Beckett and the Battle of Agincourt in 1415), and finish in the late sixteenth century with Orlandus Lassus motet on the carole "Resonet in laudibus."

RSCM Choristers Prayer

Bless O Lord us thy servants who minister in thy temple.  Grant that what we sing with our lips we may believe in our hearts, and what we believe in our hearts we may show forth in our lives; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
