Tolling of the Bells for COVID Deaths

As part of our “Feast of All Faithful Departed,” on November 3, we will remember all those who have died of COVID-19 over the past two years.

Following the lead of the Washington National Cathedral, St. John’s will toll its bells for each of the 700,000+ COVID deaths in the U.S. to date. Beginning at 1:00 p.m., after our “Feast of All Faithful Departed” service, our bell ringers will toll for one hour, ringing every five seconds.

Individuals are invited to remain in the church for quiet prayer during the tolling of the bells, or listen and pray from other parts of St. John’s campus.

New volunteers are invited to assist the Tower Bell Guild. No experience necessary. Email Betsy Calhoun if you are interested.
