Coffee Talk: Being Christian

October 11, 2020 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

Most of the Christian tradition has these things in common, but how do we understand baptism, prayer, eucharist, and the Bible in the Anglican tradition? Join Mtr. Abi and Fr. Dave to find out in this two-part series of Coffee Talks on “Being Christian.”

October 11 — Being Christian: Part I.  Mtr. Abi will lead a discussion on baptism and the Bible. The basis of this discussion will be taken from Rowan Williams’ book Being Christian: Baptism, Prayer, Eucharist, and Bible. Williams is the former Archbishop of Canterbury and a professor of theology at Cambridge. Here are some of the questions that will be explored: What does it mean to live into the baptismal covenant? How do you approach scripture?

October 18 — Being Christian: Part II. Fr. Dave will explore prayer and eucharist. The basis of this discussion will be taken from Rowan Williams’ book Being Christian: Baptism, Prayer, Eucharist, and Bible. Williams is the former Archbishop of Canterbury and a professor of theology at Cambridge. Here are some of the questions that will be explored: How and why do you pray? Why is the Holy Eucharist so important to our faith?
