St. John’s will be observing Inauguration Day with a brief morning prayer service and tolling of the bells, which we will stream on Facebook Live. We will also be ringing bells on Inauguration Eve (Tuesday, January 19) at 5:30 p.m. President-elect Biden and his inaugural committee are asking churches nationwide to ring their bells to commemorate the nearly 400,000 U.S. pandemic deaths.
Inauguration Day Events:
TOWER BELLS: From 10:30-10:45 a.m. our St. John’s Tower Bell Guild will play patriotic and inspirational hymns on the historic tower bells. Listen online as we will stream the bells via Facebook Live.
MORNING PRAYER SERVICE: At 10:45 a.m., the Rev. David C. Killeen will lead a brief prayer service from St. John’s Messer Garden. This service will be streamed via Facebook Live. Tower bell ringing will follow Fr. Dave’s reflection, and at noon, the time of Inauguration.
EVENING PRAYER: Everyone is invited to gather at 6:00 p.m. to pray for unity and peace. This brief gathering will be held prior to our regularly scheduled 6:00 p.m. adult education class. Staying for the class is welcome, but not necessary.
