Service of Choral Evensong

At 5:30 PM on February 25, the St. John’s Adult Choir and Choristers will lead a Lenten service of Choral Evensong. Featuring music by Herbert Howells, Eleanor Daley, Thomas Tomkins, and Charles H Hubert Parry, this service of Evening Prayer includes sung settings of scripture, prayers, and poems – one written in 1631, and one written in 2021! All are welcome at this timeless and introspective service of worship.

One of the oldest in the Anglican tradition, Choral Evensong (sung Evening Prayer) combines the sung monastic offices of Vespers (at sunset) and Compline (before bedtime) and is drawn almost entirely from holy scripture.
