St. John’s outreach and compassionate care teams continue to identify creative ways to serve with limited contact during these COVID times.
Throughout September — Hunger Action Month — St. John’s will be collecting canned foods for Second Harvest on Sunday afternoons. Food banks estimate that 4 in 10 people visiting them now are needing assistance as a result of the pandemic. Let’s help Second Harvest stock their shelves! Please bring your canned food donations to the Calhoun Street lobby during the hours the church is open for Communion in the Garden – on Sunday afternoons from 2-5:00 p.m.
Most-needed items include: canned fruits, vegetables, canned tuna or chicken, cereal, hearty soups/stews, and peanut butter.
Note: Canned food donations can also be dropped off at St. John’s between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Tuesday-Friday, when volunteers are on duty for Lively Cafe curbside takeout! Please ring the doorbell at the Calhoun Street entrance.
