Our Sunday School classes offer adults an opportunity to continue growing in faith through thoughtful conversation, engaging study, and shared learning. Meeting after worship, these classes are led by members of our parish and explore Scripture, Christian theology, church history, spiritual practices, and other topics that help us deepen our relationship with God.
The Fall 2026 Class Schedule is coming soon!
“Growing in Grace” is an opportunity for adults to fully join the Episcopal Church. This class is for adults seeking baptism, confirmation, reception, or reaffirmation. If you are uncertain as to what those terms mean, don’t worry we will introduce you to the history and theology of the Episcopal Church. The class begins after the new year and culminates with the bishop's visit in the spring. It meets for six to nine weeks, traditionally on Sunday afternoons.

God's Word shapes our worship, our prayers, and our lives together. Throughout the week, we offer a variety of Bible studies at different times, making it easy to find a group that fits your schedule. Together, we explore the Scripture readings we hear in worship, ask thoughtful questions, share insights, and discover how God's Word speaks into our daily lives. Whether you're opening the Bible for the first time or have been studying it for years, you'll find a welcoming community and meaningful conversation.

Compline is an ancient monastic service offered to God before bedtime, sung by members of St. John’s Episcopal Church each Sunday night during the academic term. Candles offer the only illumination during this time of spiritual reflection and renewal. Whether you’re a member or a visitor, St. John’s invites you to enjoy this unique contemplative opportunity featuring chanting, Scripture, meditative prayer, and sublime music.
Education for Ministry (EfM) is a four-year adult education program from the University of the South that offers an intensive study of scripture and theology in a small-group setting. Participants enjoy the opportunity to deepen their faith and grow personally and as laity in the St. John’s family. Many participants in the EfM program go on to share their education for ministry by teaching, serving and leading others in the church. New classes begin forming in the fall. In times of need and times of fun, small groups are a source of friendship and support. They are also a great place for spiritual growth.
- Small Groups are made up of eight to 12 individuals or a few couples, that gather monthly for conversation around a topic, fellowship, and prayer.
- Small group facilitators will guide the group in selecting a meeting time and location once groups are formed.
- We encourage people who have participated before and those who are looking to meet new people to sign up.
- Small Groups sign-ups begin in September and meet monthly through May.
