During Lent, we remember Jesus’ final commandment to his disciples:
“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another.” – John 13:34.
In this spirit, we invite you join us for Maundy Thursday at St. John’s, which includes reserving an “Agape Meal,” a Christian fellowship meal that recalls when Jesus broke bread with his disciples during his ministry, especially at the Last Supper before his crucifixion.
On Maundy Thursday, we invite you to recall the events of the Last Supper by receiving communion and experiencing foot washing in Eve’s Garden. You can also take part in quiet prayer time in the church. If you’ve pre-ordered Agape Meals, you can pick them up between 4-7:00 p.m. to enjoy later at home.
This box meal will be St. John’s take on the traditional Mediterranean-style Agape meal, and will include:
- Lentil Soup
- Hummus
- Naan Bread
- Pita Chips
- Grapes
- Fresh Vegetables
- Dried Figs
- Kalamata Olives
- Almonds
The Agape Meal cost is $20 per box meal, which includes a $15 donation that goes directly to Second Harvest of the Big Bend. This means your meal purchase will assist food insecure families in our community. Specifically, each meal purchased will allow Second Harvest to provide four days worth of meals for a local family.
Our pre-registration window has closed.
CLICK HERE if you would don’t wish to order meals, but would like to make a donation directly to Second Harvest. This will enable the organization to provide assistance where the need is greatest. Simply select “Pass thru/Second Harvest” from the drop-down menu on the donation page.
Additional donations can also be made from the meal purchase page. Here’s a message from Second Harvest:
