Our high school seniors aren’t the only ones beginning a new adventure this summer! Below is an update from Mother Abi about a brand-new chapter for Caroline Devitt, St. John’s Interim Director of Youth Ministry.
St. John’s is a space where people are truly called, and then often sent back out into the world to continue in ministry. I give thanks for this gift that St. John’s has for the larger church. Today, I write to share that Caroline Devitt will be leaving us soon to head to seminary, a decision that comes following nearly two years of discernment with the Episcopal Diocese of Southwest Florida. In August, Caroline’s home parish, Church of the Redeemer, will send her off to the Seminary of the Southwest in Austin, Texas. This past year as youth director, Caroline has met St. John’s young people exactly where they were and walked with them as they discerned God’s call in their lives. We will all miss Caroline, but know she will be an amazing priest! Caroline’s last Sunday with us will be July 24, after the youth mission team returns from Ecuador. Plan to join us to celebrate her ministry and send her off with blessings for this next chapter of her call. In the coming weeks, we will form a discernment team to find St. John’s next Youth Minister. – Mother Abi
