In this season of renewal, St. John’s parishioners are being asked to take a Spiritual Life Inventory that was created by RenewalWorks, an Episcopal organization charged with advancing spiritual growth for both individuals and parishes.

Please rest assured, your results will be anonymous and confidential. During the inventory, you will be invited to share additional thoughts with our parish using an anonymous form. Why is St. John’s doing this?

Every Sunday, we welcome folks wherever they are on their spiritual journey. To that end, we want to know where you are and how St. John’s can help you grow!

Why RenewalWorks?

The organization has experience working with over a hundred Episcopal Churches on spiritual growth. RenewalWorks will take our information and compare it with over 1,800 churches (of all denominations) and almost 500,000 congregants.

Who will see the information about St. John’s?

RenewalWorks will compile the data and present it to a committee of 15 parishioners (along with your clergy): Mary Byrd Sims, Leslie Redding, Sarah Michael Anderson, Stephen Peters, Martin Proctor, Michael Niezgoda, Cheryl Bakker, Lina Knox, Graham Demont, Dennis Howard, Jenny Blalock, Rebecca Brown, Greg Springer, Laurye Messer, and Virginia Perkins.

What will the committee do with the findings?

The committee will present the findings to the parish (during a Coffee Talk), the vestry, and other parish committees. Our hope is the information helps us create educational and programmatic offerings to foster spiritual growth.

What is involved in the Spiritual Life Inventory?

This is an online assessment, but we ask that you don’t try to do this when you are distracted. In short, we encourage you to get in a spiritual mindset before you begin. The inventory will take 20-30 minutes to complete. But don’t worry, this is not a pass or fail test!

Can I offer additional feedback?

Since the online assessment simply involves selecting answers, we have set up a form for you to offer an additional written response (optional). Please CLICK HERE to share your anonymous feedback with our parish.

Will this help us during our leadership transition?

Yes. We believe your information will be useful during the search process for our new rector as potential candidates inquire about the spiritual life of St. John’s. When the search committee is formed, we will ensure they receive a copy of our report.

Is a paper copy available?

Yes, the church office can provide a non-digital version of the inventory, if necessary. However, we encourage you to use the link for the online assessment if possible, as printing will involve a significant amount of paper and we will need to allocate staff time to input your data.
