Ready for “BACH” to School?

Our Service of Morning Prayer this week — at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 30 — is “BACH-to-School” Sunday! Each fall at St. John’s, we celebrate the beginning of the school year by blessing the “BACH”packs and sharing beautiful music from the Bach Parley String Academy and the faculty of the Tallahassee Bach Parley.

This fall, due to the pandemic, our musical pieces have been prerecorded, and we will virtually bless backpacks and devices that will be used for the upcoming school year. While things may look different, the back-to-school celebration continues. Download our printable backpack tags, and remember, “God’s got your back” this school year and always. St. John’s does as well!

After church, we’re hosting a special Coffee Talk at 11:00 a.m. A multi-generational panel of St. John’s parishioners will share stories of memorable teachers and school experiences and offer insights that may help us — students, parents, grandparents, teachers — navigate the school year ahead. Please join us!

Did you know that The Bach Parley String Academy is housed at St. John’s? The organization features an acclaimed faculty of professional string musicians provides music lessons in violin, viola and cello. Part of the String Academy’s mission is to bring together students of different backgrounds through the study and performance of music and cultivate a lifelong appreciation for music. St. John’s is grateful for their passion and creativity during these unprecedented times. We invite you to learn more about the Bach Parley String Academy on their website.
